IRIB to launch 8 new digital channels

Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) is planning to launch eight digital television channels with various types of programmes, the Fars News Agency reports. IRIB President Ezzatollah Zarghami announced this at a conference in Tehran. He added that the new channels will cover a wide range of entertainment, news, educational and scientific programmes.

Mr Zarghami also stressed that Iranian channels had great potential to produce a variety of programmes.

IRIB recently launched its first teleshopping channel which offers a broad range of Iranian products to consumers.
