The ABU was represented at the Space Technology and GIS meeting held in Bangkok on 23-25 September. Contributions were made on the future directions and policy formulation on use of space technology for Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Management.
The ABU was commended for its contribution in the region and beyond. The ABU highlighted the role of media, the use of various forms of broadcast technologies and the need for securing access to information by the public.

It will provide emphasis and demonstrate the importance of coordination and working together, among stakeholders, through the use of proven models and Standard Operational Procedures applicable to different types of disaster situations.
Experienced experts will educate and share knowledge on how to plan, deploy and utilise the latest tools and technologies to effectively communicate and inform the public in pre, during and post disaster situations.
It will particularly aim to develop and improve the cooperation and coordination process among stakeholders with the use of enhanced SOPs and information guidelines.
