MediaCorp to provide subtitled programmes for hearing-impaired

The Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) and broadcaster MediaCorp are exploring feasible ways to help the hearing-impaired people to stay in the information loop for events of national significance, Channel NewsAsia reports.

The Minister for Information, Communications and Arts of Singapore, Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim, said that the government, together with MediaCorp, is exploring different options to subtitle as many programmes as possible. The broadcaster is working together with the authorities to identify feasible, cost-effective options to reach the hearing-impaired population.
