RTM, Malaysia and Chinese TV channel strengthen cooperation

Nanning TV, China, and Jia Yu Channel, Malaysia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to expand their collaboration in TV productions.

The two companies have ventured into animation production with the production of “Borneo Head Hunter,” which will be released in China during the China-ASEAN Expo in October this year.

Malaysian Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Dr Maximus Ongkili expressed optimism that the partnership between Nanning TV and Jia Yu Channel will open up more opportunities for future collaboration and enable Malaysia’s content industry to penetrate China’s market more significantly.

“As Malaysia’s content industry has started to gain international recognition, he said, local industry players should look into tapping into bigger market segments, especially in the Asian market”.

Jia Yu Channel is a 24-hour Mandarin and Cantonese subscription channel in Malaysia, broadcasting under the slogan “Wholesome family entertainment”.

This channel was launched in 2005 with 70 percent of its content provided by Guangdong Television (GDTV) in China and Hong Kong, while the remaining is sourced from Cosmos Discovery Sdn Bhd, a local production company
