Delhi threatens social networking sites with legal action for inciting hatred

Indian prosecutors are planning to take Google, Yahoo, Facebook and other websites to court for refusing to remove material considered insulting to Indian politicians and religious figure, the British newspaper Independent on Sunday reports.

Government officials argue that such sites are promoting enmity between castes and causing prejudice to national integration. Facebook has already committed to removing material which is described as hateful, threatening, incites violence or contains nudity.
