Asian Broadcasting Network signs technology deal with Motorola Mobility

Malaysia’s Asian Broadcasting Network (ABN) is to have Motorola Mobility as its technology partner for the launch of its digital cable TV network, in the second quarter of 2012, the Malaysian daily The Star online reports.

Within the next five years, the new network will give six million households access to more than 200 channels of news, education, entertainment, movies, sports and local programming.

Mr.Sreedhar Subramaniam, CEO and director of ABN, said: ”With this partnership, we will have both the infrastructure and content management capabilities to make good on our commitment to deliver triple-play services nationwide”.

He said, ABN expects to capture a significant share of the market and sign on three million new subscribers within five years to deliver on the vision of providing ‘Access for All’.

Motorola’s technology will enable ABN to support future services such as video on demand (VOD), social TV, and interactive gaming, as well as high-speed internet and voice services.
