Discovery orders pan-regional elite cop series

The TV channel, Discovery, has ordered a pan-regional series about elite police officers, Ultimate Cops.

The show will debut across over 100 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa region this April.

The show is produced by Atom Productions International and was commissioned by Paul Welling- head of channels for Discovery Networks CEEMEA. It follows police officers in tactical units in Bucharest, Moscow and Warsaw as they pursue and apprehend criminals.

Multiple camera crews have been stationed in Moscow, Bucharest and Warsaw, filming inside real crime missions as they unfold. Intercutting footage between cities, individual stories are then relayed through the eyes of the officers themselves.

Mr Welling said this was the first series of its kind for this part of the world. Cameras will monitor events for the first in some secretive spots in the former Soviet Union, the producers added.
