Radio Pakistan inaugurates a new transmitter

Radio Pakistan expanded its network by adding a new transmitter in the southern Balochistan province city of Turbat. The Pakistan Information Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan and Senator Ismail Buledi inaugurated the 100 KW high power medium wave facility.

Speaking on the occasion‚ the Information Minister said the transmitter will provide easy access to news and entertainment to the people of far flung areas of Balochistan. She said this project reflects the priority and importance the government puts to the people of Balochistan.

The Director General of Radio Pakistan, Mr. Murtaza Solangi, said that installation of the transmitter had been completed at a cost of nearly USD 2 million. In daytime the station can cover a radius of 300 km and triple that area during nighttime. He added that the station can be heard in UAE‚ Iran‚ Oman and other Gulf countries.
