Taliban shuts down telecommunications in southern provinces

The Taliban have stopped the activities of telecom companies in southeastern provinces. Paktika local officials say the Taliban have warned private telecom companies to stop their activities after 1600 hours local time or their antennas would be damaged.

The Paktika governor has confirmed the complaints of the citizens of the province but he says that there is no security problem and the authorities are able to ensure security for the activities of the telecom companies everywhere in this province.

“I can protect any of your antennas which are in danger in Paktika and Paktika government has this ability to protect them. I request the respected minister of telecommunications to recommend the two networks and solve this problem in the light of Afghanistan constitutional law,” said Paktika Governor Mohibollah Samim.
