South Koreans want increase of TV license fee

More than six out of ten South Koreans believe the National Assembly should swiftly pass a pending bill on raising the television license fee.

KBS commissioned Media Research to conduct a survey on one thousand Korean adults nationwide in January.

Sixty-four percent said they agree the Assembly must act responsibly and quickly decide on the license fee hike.

Regarding the one thousand won increase, 67 percent said the amount is adequate or too small, while 32 percent considered it high.

Over 65 percent said the TV license fee in Korea collected by KBS is low compared to other nations.

The survey results have a 95 percent reliability rate with a margin of error of plus minus three-point-one percentage points.
