Disney Channel increases its market share in Russia

Disney Channel is already making its presence in the Russian TV marketplace and could soon even pose a threat to established players such as CTC Media.

According to the Russian daily Kommersant, the channel had an average national daily audience share of 3.6% in January, or two and a half times more than Seven, which previously used its frequency.

Walt Disney Company acquired a 49% stake in Seven from YUTV Holding for USD 300 million last October. It then rebranded Seven as the Disney Channel and stopped distributing the latter via cable.
