Bangladesh gives community radio a bigger role in development

Bangladesh Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad has said community radio can play an important role in reforming society by reaching development news and information to the marginal level people.

Information Minister made the comment while inaugurating a conference on community radio organized by Bangladesh NGO Network for Radio and Communication- BNNRC in the capital Dhaka on Saturday.

Criticizing people who speak abroad adversely about the freedom of media in the country, Abul Kalam Azad said, the media is enjoying greater freedom at present compared to any other time in the past.

He advised community radio centers to provide flawless information for the betterment of marginal level people.
