Cartoon Network Arabic goes HD on YahLive

Cartoon Network Arabic is to be broadcast in high definition (HD) across the Middle East and North Africa, following an announcement by Turner Broadcasting Systems (TBS) and UAE satellite operator YahLive at Dubai’s Cabsat Middle East expo.

Cartoon Network Arabic has been available in standard definition free to air since October 2010 on Nilesat 104 and Badr 6.

However, this deal marks a first in terms of high definition satellite carriage for the channel, which will be available via Yahsat at 52.5 degrees East.

According to rapidtvnews.com, the channel provides both locally produced and international children’s entertainment in Arabic, with shows including Ben 10, Powderpuff Girls, Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Ben and Izzy, Freej and Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends.
