Chinese Internet TV operator targets North American Chinese diaspora

Chinese Internet TV service provider iTV.cn is going to America. It has signed a carriage agreement for the Phoenix North America Chinese Channel, which it will promote via a range of multiplatform initiatives.

Phoenix ‘ stated mission is to “bring the Chinese people all over the world closer.” To that end, iTV.cn and Phoenix will make programming available to the North American Chinese diaspora via Web, iPad and iPhone. Users also can watch live broadcast and video playback, along with an on-demand library.

Most notably, iTV.cn makes it possible for each viewer in the household to create their own ‘My Phoenix’ channel by flagging favorite programmes according to personal taste. Those programmes will be automatically pushed to the user’s channel.

“The cooperation between iTV.cn and Phoenix is a win-win model of internet TV service platform and content provider with complementary strengths,” said Wu Xiaoyong, president at Phoenix North America Chinese Channel. “We are expecting a further cooperation and providing a more pleasant viewing experience for the Chinese people all over the world.”
