
Asiavision Coordinators’ Meeting – Colombo
Some 40 Asiavision and technical coordinators, representing 20 countries of the Asia Pacific region, gathered in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo for the annual Asiavision coordinators’ meeting . The forum highlighted the important role of every member of the ABU video exchange platform to work together to share information in order to contribute to the economic growth and increase the living standards of the people in the region.
The event was held at Mount Berjaya hotel in Mount Lavenia – a suburb of the capital Colombo .The two day session was inaugurated by the acting minister for media Mr. Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana.
It is for the first time that an AVN coordinators meeting is being held in Sri Lanka. Ending the 30 years of war and the peaceful and tourist friendly nature in Sri Lanka created a convenient atmosphere for the meeting.
Addressing the inaugral session SLRC Chairman Mr. Mohan Samaranayake explained the challenges faced by the broadcasters in the region. the ABU and SLRC were jointly organized the coordinators meeting.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Agency organized a gala dinner for the visitng asiavision coordinators in the historic Galle Face hotel in Colombo, which was built in 1864. The guests were entertained by dancing troups representing various regions and communities across Sri Lanka.
