Loudness Solutions sought

As the NAB show closes in Las Vegas, it is sure to have raised the familiar issue of loudness regulation within the broadcasting sector. The concern has plagued the market for many years, though that conversation has been slow to evolve into any kind of resolution. The CALM Act which will be implemented in the US in December may just get the ball rolling. Already China is investing in its own version of the loudness regulation pact, hinting that the rest of the world may soon follow in America’s impressionable footsteps. What remains to be seen is if the US sets a good example and avoids any loudness loopholes, which in turn, could affect worldwide broadcasting standards as we know them.
