SBS Australia appoints new GM for its subscription TV services

Australia’s SBS has appointed Chris Keely as general manager of subscription television, responsible for the World Movies and Studio channels broadcast on Foxtel and Austar. 

Keely worked in broadcast media and the arts in arts in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and Greater China across private, public and community sectors. He has extensive experience in all aspects of subscription television and related business lines, including digital media.

Keely developed and managed subscription television channels for Viacom (MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and Comedy Central) and managed channels at Optus Vision (Ovation and licensed MTV channels). He has worked as an adviser to Commonwealth and State ministers for the Arts, was involved in leading development of Australia’s first cultural policy “Creative Nation”, and has a long association with the arts and cultural sectors.
