KBS Dramas win at the Houston International Film Festival

Three KBS dramas won accolades at the Houston International Film Festival 2012. ‘White Christmas’ was named as recipient of the Platinum Remi for the category of TV series, ‘Thanks for Making Me Smile’ as another Platinum Remi winner for the category of TV film, and ‘Babyfaced Beauty’ as Silver Remi winner for the category of TV mini-series.

Thanks for Making Me Smile, directed by a wheelchair-bound Mr. Kim Young-jin, is about a performance troupe comprised of people with disabilities. White Christmas tells a story of high school students isolated in a remote place for eight days and having to deal with their evil inside. Baby-faced Beauty is a comedy where the main character, played by Jang Na-ra, who looks much younger than her age, tells a lie about her age to get a job and then becomes involved in situations that get out of control.

The Houston International Film Festival established in 1961 as an international film society is now one of the oldest and the most prestigious TV and film festivals in North America. The plaudits for KBS at the Festival are recognition of diversity and distinctiveness of KBS dramas.
