MediaCorp launches to bring back the joy of reading

Singapore’s MediaCorp has launched a digital initiative devoted to the love of the e-word. With more than 300,000 titles, from mystery to medicine, humour to horror, aims to provide an e-book for every palate.

Mr R Ramachandran, Executive Director of National Book Development Council of Singapore said it is important to promote reading in the current digital climate: “With digital publishing gaining traction around the world, we’re happy that MediaCorp shares NBDCS’ aim to promote reading, writing and publishing.”

Mr Philip Koh, Managing Director of Convergent Media, MediaCorp agrees with that assessment: “The digital landscape is constantly evolving. Tablet and mobile devices and apps will get smarter, making it ever more convenient to browse, buy, read and share digital books. aims to be part of that eco-system to bring book lovers, publishers and authors together.”

For a limited period, some of the titles are available for free and a select range is on offer at discounted rates. Once an e-book is purchased, it can be read anywhere, anytime on a tablet or mobile device. Downloads of the free MediaCorp e-reader app are available from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
