New CCTV HQ ready in time for London Olympics coverage

With construction and fit out completed, CCTV has taken possession of its new Headquarters main building in time for the broadcast of the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Located in the CBD of Chaoyang District, the 44-storey skyscraper is 234 meters high and consists of a podium building, two towers and a cantilever design.

The whole building covers an area of 470,000 square meters and can accommodate 10,000 staff members.

It has 33 studios and is divided into six functional zones. In the expanded new building, CCTV will be able to double its daily operation to produce 200 hours’ worth of programs. What is more, with new equipment, the audience will also be expanded from the traditional TV users to multiple terminal user groups, such as smartphone users and netizens.

The biggest charm of this high-rise lies in the three transparent glass floor tiles on the 37th floor, from which visitors can view the bustling traffic moving, more than 100 meters below them on the street.
