Universal Music teams up with Russian cableco to attract music fans

The Russian cable operator ER Telecom has launched what it describes as a “revolutionary project” in 42 cities around Russia, reports BroadbandTVNews.

Known as Music Club and undertaken in conjunction with Universal Music Group, it gives subscribers to the company’s Dom.ru service access to more than 1.5 million songs in a catalogue of licensed content.

They will also be able to attend concerts in Russia by the British band Hurts and performances in Europe by major show business stars.

ER Telecom is a triple play company and at the end of 2011 reported an estimated 4 million subscribers to its services, 101% more than in 2010.
