Visit renews commitments to cooperation

The ABU and a delegation from Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting have identified several areas of expanding cooperation.

Training was one of several issues discussed during a visit of eight IRIB executives to ABU headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 3 July.

The IRIB Training Centre and the Communication Department of IRIB Media University will nominate well-qualified Iranian trainers for some of the current workshops organised by the ABU Secretariat and will host several in-country and regional workshops by the end of 2013.

The guests, high-level managers from IRIB television and radio departments, the IRIB Training Centre and IRIB University, were briefed about current ABU activities in news exchange, programming, technology and sports.

The ABU staff also gave presentations on major new projects such as the ABU Radio and TV Song Festivals, the new content exchange platform Asia-Pacific View, the 2014 World Summit on Media for Children in KL and two ABU campaigns on empowering women through media and ICT and Climate Change Adjustment and Solutions.

Since joining the ABU in 1967, IRIB has become one of the Union’s most active members.
