Fans flock to K-Pop festival in Hong Kong

An estimated 10,000 fans turned up at the AsiaWorld-Expo Arena in Hong Kong for the latest show in the K-Pop music phenomenon Music Bank series.

Hosted by Korean Broadcasting System in cooperation with Hong Kong’s TVB, the eight-act concert was recorded on 23 June and scheduled to be broadcast via KBS TV2 on the 6 July.

The Hong Kong concert followed sell-out Music Bank shows in Tokyo and Paris, and included acts such as TVXQ, Wonder Girls, C&blue and f(x).

Organisers say Music Bank is one of the most popular music programs broadcast through the KBS World Channel to 72 countries. The weekly program is seen as a debut vehicle for upcoming artists and a driving force behind the Hallyu Wave (or Korean wave) of youth music currently sweeping across and beyond Asian markets.

Chief Producer Kim Chung says Music Bank will continue to meet its fans through live concerts, making available Korean entertainment for audiences in various regions.
