New minister states support for Bangladesh community radio

Bangladesh’s new Minister for Information Mr Hasanul Haque Inu has reassured community broadcasters in his country he will support the sector.

He met a delegation from Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) who told him about the latest situation in the sector, its achievements, challenges, obstacles and opportunities.

BNNRC Chief Executive Officer Bazlur Rahman said the minister paid deep attention to their discussion and assured them he would do as much as possible for the better growth of the community radio sector.

“He also expressed his interest to visit community radio stations whenever it will be appropriate for him,” Mr Rahman said.

The six-member delegation came from Radio Naf, Radio Chilmari 99.2, Radio Barendra 99.2, Radio Bikrampur 99.2 and Krishi Radio 98.8.
