EBU recognises KBS’s Masterpiece Scandal

KBS’s cultural entertainment program Masterpiece Scandal was awarded Best Seven Format by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) at its Creative Forum in Berlin, Germany.

Masterpiece Scandal was broadcast from January 2011 to May 2012 via KBS TV1 and acknowledged by both critics and audience for its innovative approach to fine arts.

Mr. Song Young-seok, producer of the program, said that European broadcasters showed great interest in the program for its entertainment quality that provided diverse perspectives on arts.

Masterpiece Scandal, which also received an Asian TV Award in 2011, combines a variety show style with a talk show format to add entertainment quality to a traditional form of cultural programs.

It was the first time for a Korean TV program to receive the award that selects the winners through presentations of the best format programs of the world.
