Live Premier League on the airwaves in Malaysia

talkSPORT, the world’s biggest sports radio station, announced a partnership with Malaysia’s Astro Radio to broadcast its official Barclays Premier League radio commentary via Astro’s Mix FM and Sinar FM.

Since the beginning of the 2012/13 Barclays Premier League season, fans across Malaysia have been able to hear live commentary on every Premier League match in English, Spanish and Mandarin over the internet at talkSPORT.com. Under this new agreement, the Premier League commentary will also be available each weekend, in Bahasa, on Mix FM and Sinar FM on an exclusive basis within Malaysia.

Earlier this year, talkSPORT struck a deal with the Premier League for the exclusive package of international audio broadcasting rights for the next four football seasons, until 2016 and with the FA for FA Cup and England matches for the next six seasons.

Scott Taunton, Chief Executive, talkSPORT said: “Malaysians are amongst the world’s most passionate football fans, so I’m delighted to be working with Astro to bring our exclusive coverage of the Barclays Premier League to the airwaves. 2012/13 is shaping up to be another memorable season, and we look forward to ensuring Mix FM and Sinar FM listeners don’t miss a second of the drama as Manchester City seek to defend their title.”

Dr Jake Abdullah, Chief Content Officer at Astro Radio said: “We are delighted to be in partnership with talkSPORT for the radio broadcast of the Barclays Premier League on Mix FM and Sinar FM. As Malaysians are mad about football it will offer those without access to a TV the chance to listen to the matches while also being the perfect companion for those who are on the go and mobile. Plus, the fact that there will be Bahasa Malaysia commentary for Sinar FM makes it a unique offering.
