Hong Kong’s DBC goes off-air

Hong Kong’s financially troubled radio station Digital Broadcasting Corporation (DBC) has gone off-air less than a month after its official launch. Regular programming has ceased, and radio hosts have bid farewell to their listeners.

The station ran out of funds following a dispute among its shareholders over financial issues.

Staff members say they have not been paid their salaries for October, or been offered any severance payment.

A DBC talkshow host, Andrew Cheng, said he was planning to broadcast programmes on the station for free next week if regulations allow it.
