STAR Cricket Channel grows footprint in Southeast Asia

ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) has secured new carriage for the STAR Cricket channel in the Philippines and Indonesia, reports.

The channel, which launched in 2007, reaches viewers in markets such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea, the Maldives and now the Philippines.

The launch in Indonesia is coming soon. An HD version of the channel rolled out in July last year in key markets in Asia, including India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Singapore.

Peter Hutton, the managing director of ESS, said, “We’re delighted to be able to help the ICC grow the game worldwide, and to see STAR Cricket increase its popularity across Asia.”
