ABU General Assembly in Korea ‘a milestone’ says President

ABU President Dr Kim In-Kyu says the 2012 General Assembly in Korea will be remembered as “an outstanding milestone” in the history of the Union.

In a letter to the ABU’s 225 members, more than 1,000 conference participants and to its organisers around the Asia-Pacific, Dr Kim thanked everyone “all those who participated and helped make this such a successful and memorable experience for all”.

He said the 49th General Assembly in Seoul from 11-18 October was “one of the largest and most industrious summits in ABU history”.

Dr Kim is also President and CEO of the host broadcaster Korean Broadcasting System which, he said, counted itself fortunate to have had the honour and privilege of hosting the 2012 event.

“This year’s gathering, with its focus on excellence in fresh associated meetings and innovative programs working in synergy with the Plenary Session of the General Assembly, will go down as a truly outstanding milestone in the history of the ABU,” he said.

“This is all thanks to the strong will and determination of the members of the ABU.”

Dr Kim said he looked forward to seeing everyone at the 2013 ABU General Assembly in Hanoi, Vietnam.
