ABS-CBN licenses ‘The Promise’ to Cambodia

The Filipino series ‘The Promise’ is getting localized in Cambodia following a deal between Cambodian Television Network (CTN) and the ABS-CBN, commercial television network of the Philippines.

The Promise is one of the Philippines’ most successfully distributed series of all time. It stars Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa as Angelo (Rosales) and Yna (Hermosa). Cambodian actors will be cast for the CTN version, which should enter production in the first quarter of 2013, worldscreen.com reports.

Leng Raymundo, the head of ABS-CBN’s international distribution unit, commented, “The global viewers recognize and demand for ABS-CBN programmes as they remain true to local cultural sensitivities. It has a definite global appeal, heart-warming relatable stories that have high production values and good-looking actors that cross borders.”
