Malaysia positions itself as a hub for communication and creative content industries

Malaysia’s Minister of Information, Communications & Culture YB Dato’ Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim today announced an initiative to position Kuala Lumpur as the premier marketing hub for communications and creative content in the region.

The inaugural Kuala Lumpur Content and Creative Industry Mart (KLCCIM) will take place in March 2013 and will be a one-stop market event, festival, showcase, conference, networking and financing forum for the region.  It is expected to attract 400 creative companies and more than 20,000 visitors and provide a platform to generate cooperation and commercial opportunities for Asia’s creative industries including film & television, multimedia, arts and craft.

Speaking at the media launch in Kuala Lumpur today, Dato’ Seri Utama Dr Rais said “the effort to position Kuala Lumpur as the premier marketing hub for communications and creative content in the region is a manifestation of the Government’s desire to develop the creative industry as a means of generating employment opportunities for the people in addition to promoting wealth creation.”  He added that KLCCIM 2013 is envisaged as a driver to enable the achievement of a high income nation.

The event will be held in conjunction with the ABU Television Market Forum, the International Film Festival of Malaysia, the Asian Side of the Doc festival and conference and the Asia Digital Media Craft Awards.
