ABU & DVB gather experts to plan digital TV future in Asia

More than 70 senior engineers and TV executives from throughout the Asia-Pacific are gathered in New Delhi for a digital television conference co-hosted by the ABU.

The DVB-T2 Implementation Workshop at the India Habitat Center is jointly organised by the ABU,the international Digital Video Broadcasting consortium (DVB) and India’s national public service broadcaster Doordarshan.

The event has drawn participants from 10 countries in the Asia-Pacific and includes high level experts from equipment manufacturers in Europe and Asia.

Speakers at the opening session on 4 December included:  Dr Peter Siebert, Executive Director of DVB in Switzerland; Mr Sharad Sadhu, Director Technology for the ABU; Mr R K Sinha, the Engineer-in-Chief of Doordarshan and Mr Jawhar Sircar, CEO of Prasar Bharati in New Delhi. The keynote address was given by Mr Tripurari Sharan, the Director General of Doordarshan.

The event provides a platform for participants to share the experiences of the latest terrestrial digital broadcasting standard DVB-T2 technology and transmission.
