Popstar to Operastar heads to Vietnam

Popstar to Operastar, a successful format from ITV Studios Global Entertainment, is slated to premiere on VTV3 in Vietnam next year. worldscreen.com reports.

Vietnamese production company Cattiensa will produce an 8×90-minute version of the show, in which popstars transform into opera singers—with some help from well-known opera experts—over the course of six weeks.

The format was first ordered by ITV1 in the U.K. It also airs on CJ E&M Korea’s TvN channel.

Augustus Dulgaro, the senior VP for the Asia Pacific at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, commented: “We’re delighted that Vietnamese viewers are going to have the opportunity to see their favourite popstars take on the challenge of opera. The outstanding performance of Popstar to Operastar in Korea has demonstrated the appetite for this creative series in Asia and we look forward to securing further deals for the format.”
