New CEO for ABS-CBN

ABS-CBN Corporation, the Philippines’ largest multimedia conglomerate, announced the appointment of Rosario “Charo” Santos-Concio as its new CEO, with long-time CEO Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III remaining as Chairman of the group.

Santos-Concio, whose appointment took effect January 1, is currently president and chief content officer of the group, roles she will continue to hold in addition to the CEO post, TV Asia reports.

A former actress, she has been with the Filipino media group since 1987, serving as a consultant, director of programs, VP of production operations, senior VP of TV production, executive VP and then head of Channel 2. She took on the role of president in 2008 and has been credited with bolstering the company’s ratings and ad revenues.

ABS-CBN operates free-to-air and cable channels and radio stations, with subsidiaries involved in cable TV, print publishing, music production, talent management, new media and more.
