Bundesliga launches Japanese website

Germany’s national football association Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) is expanding its Internet offering for Bundesliga fans around the globe.

RapidTVNews reports that after launching an English language website www.bundesliga.com as well as a Polish version, DFL has now kicked off a website for Japanese fans of German football. The website, www.bundesliga.com/jp, carries news and other content tailor-made for the local audience.

The line-up includes reports and portraits of players and clubs in the Bundesliga, statistics, photo galleries, videos and interviews with players and experts as well as information about Germany as a footballing nation. The site also contains a password-protected area for media representatives and broadcasters.

“With this offering, we want to get Japanese fans even more excited about the Bundesliga and also further increase the awareness of the Bundesliga in Japan,” said DFL sport CEO  Jörg Daubitzer.

“We are therefore also supporting our TV partners Fuji-TV and NHK in attracting more fans for the Bundesliga in what is an important market. Furthermore, we are delighted to have attracted a further TV partner, Fox Sports Japan, who will report on the Bundesliga from March onwards.”
