Australia celebrates Lunar New Year on ABC Extra

Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) Digital Radio Service ABC Extra will welcome in the Year of the Snake with a series of special programmes highlighting contemporary Asian culture in Australia.

Lunar New Year on ABC Extra will launch with a special two hour program exploring the hidden histories and quirky stories of contemporary Asian culture in Australian life. This special will include chef Poh Ling Yeow (Poh’s Kitchen) and a performance by singer-songwriter Sophie Koh.

Other programs during the broadcast will include music shows, talks to Asian-heritage artists working in Australia; and a ‘national tour’ of Asian food presented by food bloggers Jennifer Lam and Amy Ta. Radio Australia’s Connect Asia program will include news, business reports and analysis on the stories that matter in Asia.
