Deadline looms for Asia-Pacific Fellowship program by Dart Center

Journalists in the Asia-Pacific wanting to deepen their knowledge of emotional trauma and improve coverage of violence, conflict and tragedy have until 18 February to apply for prestigious Dart Centre regional Fellowships.

The scheme’s seminar program is aimed at veteran journalists, editors and freelancers and the organisers say preference will be given to applicants applying in two-person teams comprised of a seasoned journalist and an editor from the same news organisation, except in the case of freelancers.

The program consists of seven-days of seminars and conversations in Bangkok, Thailand, from 12-19 May 2013. It offers briefings by leading experts in the trauma and journalism fields along with peer-to-peer discussions on the many challenges of covering tragedy and violence. The fellowship covers all travel, accommodations and ground expenses while attending the program.

They are open to print, broadcast and online reporters, photographers, camera operators, editors and producers with at least five years’ full-time journalism experience.

The organisers say applicants must possess strong spoken and written English, as all presentations will be made in English.
