NHK’s popular TV drama “Oshin” becomes a movie

NHK’s popular TV drama “Oshin,” will appear in cinemas later this year and will feature Ayako Kobayashi, who played the young protagonist in the original drama.

Filming began last month in Yamagata City, northern Japan, where the original series was also set.

The original drama’s heroine Ayako Kobayashi is now playing a wife in the movie. She performs in the film with the new young heroine Kokone Hamada.

Filming will run through to the end of March and the movie is scheduled to be on screen in October this year.
