CBBC’s Newsround and BBC Learning launch invention competition

UK school children are being given an opportunity to come up with an invention that could be professionally made and showcased on television.

Inspired by the CBBC show Absolute Genius With Dick & Dom, the ‘You too can be an Absolute Genius’ Newsround competition is hoping to find the nation’s next generation of inventors and engineers by testing their creativity and inventiveness.

Officially launched on 19 March, the hunt is on for teams of children from upper primary school classes to identify problems and then come up with a practical invention which provides the perfect solution. 

Working with partners and in local communities, BBC Learning aims to stimulate interests and encourage engagement through a variety of campaigns across all BBC genres and platforms.
