ABU’s CARE series demonstrate the value of co-production in emerging markets

ABU member producers from Asia’s emerging markets took centre stage at this year’s Asian Side of the Doc (ASD) conference to demonstrate the value of co-production to the region’s broadcasters.

The documentary-makers from 15 Asia-Pacific broadcasters were meeting in Malaysia to launch the third season of the ABU’s Change Asia, Rescue Earth (CARE) development program.

More than 30 participants met in Kuala Lumpur to plan, develop and schedule the production of individual documentaries, this year on the theme of “Youth & Future”.

CARE is a documentary co-production project of the ABU, initiated by Korean Broadcasting System (KBS). It aims to inform the public about the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as well as to promote media social responsibility to make this place a better place for all.

The two previous CARE seasons have been centred on the overall aims of the MDGs in CARE1 and Empowering Women in Care2
