Japanese broadcasters join to pitch TV formats at MIP TV

With the backing of the Japanese government, seven major public and commercial broadcasters – NHK, NTV, TV Asahi, TBS, TV Tokyo, Fuji TV, ABC and YTV – will join again to promote their TV formats at MIP TV under the Treasure Box Japan banner.

Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) recently implemented a policy to actively help promote and localise Japanese content globally. This is the second time Japanese broadcasters have come together in Cannes to pitch their formats, following the first Treasure Box event at Mipcom last year.

Among Japanese TV formats previously licensed to TV stations abroad are Fun Fun Studio (NHK), Dragon’s Den (NTV), Masquerade (NTV), Takeshi’s Castle (TBS), Iron Chef and Total Blackout (Fuji TV).
