Malaysia’s pay TV platform ASTRO and its sister entity Maxis have teamed up to offer packages that include TV, high speed broadband and home voice services via Astro B.yond IPTV.

“Our partnership with Astro … will enable our customers to enjoy all their favourite Astro content from live sports action to movies, top rated documentaries and breaking news, across any device, anytime, anywhere, backed by our network,” said Maxis chairman Arshad Uda.

Digital News Asia reports that at launch, five channels from Astro Select will be available: Comedy Central (South-East Asia’s first 24-hour all-comedy entertainment channel), HBO Hits, HBO Signature and HBO Family and WeTV (a lifestyle channel for women). Five additional HD channels will be available by the next quarter.

“Recognising our customers’ quest for increasing bandwidth and speed, we are committed to take  our customers’ viewing  experience to a whole new level by providing the widest choices in content and high speed broadband, as well as the best value propositions,” said Astro chief executive officer Dato’ Rohana Rozhan.
