Former ASBU President heads Saudi General Commission for Audiovisual Media

A Royal Decree issued in Saudi Arabia has appointed Dr. Eng. Riyadh Najm, former President of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), and well-known media figure in the region, as President of the Saudi General Commission for Audiovisual Media (GCA).

Created a few months ago by the Council of Ministers ,this Institution is an autonomous regulatory authority with administrative and financial independence. Its role is to regulate the radio and TV sector in the Kingdom, in the fields of services, transmission, production, distribution and marketing.

The Radio and Television Corporation as well as the Saudi News Agency were also established as institutions independent from the Ministry of Information.
