Sony wins rights for Angry Birds feature

Sony Pictures Entertainment has scored the exclusive worldwide distribution rights for the highly anticipated Angry Birds animated movie, which is being developed in 3D.

World Screen reports that Rovio Entertainment, the company behind the game that started the Angry Birds phenomenon, is developing, producing and financing the project. Sony Pictures will be releasing the movie worldwide on July 1, 2016.

Mikael Hed, the CEO of Rovio Entertainment, said, “Sony impressed us with their great attitude, determination, and professionalism. They convinced us that we have found the right partners and team to help us market and distribute our first motion picture.“
