TVB to bring 2014 FIFA World Cup to Hong Kong

Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) has been appointed by FIFA as Hong Kong’s official broadcaster of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™.

Announcing the appointment, TVB Group General Manager Mr Mark Lee said that TVB has been granted exclusive television rights (FTA and pay-TV); radio rights; internet and mobile transmission rights for the tournament next year.

TVB will broadcast live 22 matches, including six core matches and daily highlights on free digital terrestrial channels as well as on the analogue network. Football fans will also be able to watch live broadcast of all 64 matches from Brazil on the pay-TV platform TVB Network Vision.

FIFA TV Director Niclas Ericson said “FIFA is delighted to be joining up with TVB in the crucial and vibrant television market of Hong Kong.  FIFA looks forward to an excellent working relationship with TVB as we take all the excitement, drama and passion of the 2014 FIFA World Cup to households across the world.”

TVB’s football coverage will begin this year with the FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil, 15-30 June and FIFA U-20 World Cup Turkey, taking place 21 June to 13 July.
