Hong Kong’s ATV Classic to be shown in Malaysia

ATV Classic, the sole Cantonese Channel originating from Hong Kong has joined Malaysia’s ABNxcess from June 8, 2013.

ABNxcess is  Malaysia’s first digital cable TV network. To date, more than one hundred channels have joined the media platform offerring programmes ranging from news, education, entertainment, movies and sport.

ATV traces its history to the first Chinese television station worldwide. As one of the two free public TV stations in Hong Kong, ATV is also the first to be granted license for broadcasting in Guangdong province (including Hong Kong and Macau), with an extensive coverage of more than 100 million viewers overseas. ATV’s American Channel has been broadacsting in North & South America for ten years.

According to ATV executives,  ATV’s Classic Channel joining ABNxcess is an important step towards the channel’s ambition to become the CNN of  Asia. They say the channel will definitely enrich the cultural life of 8 million Malaysian Chinese as well as shorten the distance between Malaysia and Hong Kong with its round-the-clock programming of dramas, variety shows and infotainment.
