Nepal pay-TV subs top 200k

Nepal is not perhaps the first country that comes to mind in reporting a buoyant pay-TV environment, but the latest numbers from Dataxis Asia state that the country now has more than 200,000 pay-TV subscribers.

Kathmandu-based Dish Media Network, which enjoys a monopoly, reports 200,000 subs paying an average of $2.70 a month. Verimatrix provides content protection, reports.

Viewers receive 70 channels from Intelsat’s 906 craft made up mostly of South Asian programming from India, as well as BBC World, Discovery, Cartoon Network and CNN.
