Australian Dumb Ways to Die ad officially the ‘most successful ad ever’

The Dumb Ways to Die campaign which originally began as a radio ad in Melbourne, Australia, is officially the most successful ad campaign ever taken to Cannes, RadioInfo reports.

The commercial has bagged 18 Gold, three Silver and two Bronze awards and two Grand Prix on its final day at the Cannes Lions, to take its award total to 28.

Their final gong was the prestigious Integrated Lion which is awarded to the best campaign across a range of media.

Creative director of the ad agency McCann Australia John Mescall says it is now positioned as one of the best ads in the world and he’s told B&T:

“Wow, just wow. This is a testament to a great client and the hard work and dedication of everyone at McCann Australia – I’m very proud of us all.”
