BBC launches latest wave of comedy pilots exclusively on iPlayer

BBC Three has launched eight comedy pilots exclusively on BBC iPlayer as part of a year-long trial.

The broadcaster, which revealed its plans to commission shows exclusively on its TV catch-up player ahead of their potential TV transmission in February, has released another wave of comedy pilots following the success of its initial trial which began last year, The Drum reports.

This included the Feed My Funny comedy strand, which generated more than 1m requests on BBC iPlayer within the first ten days of being made available, according to the broadcaster. Two of the pilots from this strand have now been commissioned as full TV series for BBC Three.

The broadcaster has also revealed plans to launch another series of Comedy Feeds exclusively for the iPlayer from this September.
