Deadline extended for new radio drama prize

Organisers of a new international radio drama prize – the Grand Prix Nova – have extended the deadline for entries to 15 July 2013.

Radio Romania launched the international radio drama festival and prize under the auspices of the International Union of Radio and Television (URTI) to mark the broadcaster’s 85th anniversary.

Radio Romania says it would like to share its commitment to the future of radio drama by inviting radio professionals to present their ideas and visions on its development in coming years.

Attila Vizauer, Editor in Chief of Radio Romania’s Drama Department, says the Grand Prix Nova aims to attract radio drama productions from all over the world and they are particularly interested in rewarding innovative artistic works that explore new approaches to radio broadcasting, bring forward original texts and/or experiment with unusual sound editing techniques.

Due to the shortage of time till entries close, they say they are also happy to accept registration forms, play transcripts and synopses via e-mail in a Microsoft Word or PDF format.

The Grand Prix Nova festival itself begins on 30 September 2013 for six days.

“Everyone interested is welcome to participate by personal attendance or just by sending a program,” Mr Vizauer said.

Entry forms, contest rules and regulations as well as further information on the festival are available via the Grand Prix Nova website, at www.grandprixnova.ro.
